Listen here to the text that I performed and is now being played in the Audible Dwelling. The text, Is this Columbus, Ohio? written by Jamie Stapleton with Learning Site, is told from the perspective of the parking lot and begins with glowing adoration for cars and malls, then slowly deteriorates into frantic economic woes about the necessity for saving the parking lot as a part of "cultural heritage."
My role was to help in illuminating this voice as one which expands beyond viewing the parking lot as only a part of the American cultural landscape, and into a critical viewpoint as to why is change so threatening? What does the parking lot truly represent in our day to day lives?
